Bonus Cards
During character creation, each player gets 3 Bonus Cards that can be played for extra yCoins, which are added to the Likes they get from the audience for their final score at the end of the mission.
There are 3 types of cards, which are kept hidden until they are used:
- Teachable Moment: React to an NPC or another player and lecture them about a Yazzle core value like Integrity or Enthusiasm. These enable a kind of passive aggressive interaction between players.
- Gadget Review: An experimental gadget from R&D that breaks down after one use, in the spirit of "move fast and break things". After it's used, the player must give a review to the camera. (These are like a combination of R&D items and mutant powers in Paranoia).
- Corporate Sponsor: Some corporations secretly pay Smile Police officers to mention them in an "authentic" way during the livestream, which is technically illegal but everyone does it. (Similar to secret societies in Paranoia.)

I've heard that cards were used in a previous version of Paranoia, and weren't popular with the players. But to be honest, I find them ideal from a usability standpoint. They get handed out randomly at the start of the game, and everything you need to know is on the card. Quick and easy.
The cards themselves are printed and cut out, which is a bit of friction, but in our mostly digital world, I think it's fun to have things that you get to make by hand. (Maybe someday I can provide a deck of cards that can be ordered online.) It also plays well with the DIY moment before the game where players make their "Mood Band" out of construction paper and markers. While the game is about digital culture, it's ultimately a game about human creativity.
